Selected Work / The Black Beauty Effect

A premiere experience rooted in Black beauty.

An immersive Los Angeles premiere experience for The Black Beauty Effect documentary, extending the film’s world into the room.

The experience

The premiere brought the documentary’s subject into the physical space. Gilded frames, flowers, mirrors and affirmations connected the entrance, gathering spaces and screening room, creating a guest journey that reflected the film’s celebration of Black women and beauty.

Rather than treating the venue as a backdrop, the environmental design carried a consistent idea through arrival, gathering and screening, giving guests a way to move through the film’s world together.

My role

Experiential concept, environmental design and guest journey.

I shaped the overall experience and the relationship between the visual environment, the story and the audience’s movement through the premiere.
